Cimiez: Settled by the Romans in 154BC, Cimiez is home to ancient Roman ruins, including an amphitheatre and the well-preserved Roman baths. Within the suburb of Cimiez is also the Matisse Museum. The museum contains a collection of the inspiring artist Henri Mattise. Close by is the cemetery in which he was buried, the Monastère Notre Dame de Cimiez, which also houses a small museum dedicated to the workings of the monastery's monks.
Vieux Nice / Old Town: The beautiful Old Town of Nice is characterised by narrow, winding streets, beautiful churches, and contains the Rue Benoît Bunico, the old Jewish ghetto from 1430. There is also a wide selection of cafes and eateries where one can sit and enjoy the charming surroundings.
Promenade des Anglais: The English promenade, established in 1822 by the English colony, hugs the seashore for several kilometres. Lined with palm trees, it is enjoyed by walkers, joggers, cyclists, and roller-bladers.
