Museo Archeologico Regionale: Better recognized as the best museum in Italy, is filled with artifacts from prehistoric times until the Roman era. A few hours need to be spent to view the museum's collections of major Sicilian finds from the Phoenician; Punic; Greek; Roman;, and Saracen periods, and several treasures from Egypt.
Cappella Palatina: Built inside the Norman Palace in 1130, this church is one of the distinct sights of Palermo. The church is covered in dazzling Byzantine mosaics and it symbolizes the political and cultural union by the Normans.
Chiesa di San Cataldo: This church is the current seat of the order of the Holy Sepulchre. Built in 1160 during the Norman period, the church has three red Arabian domes on top.
