The Buried Village: Only a 15minute drive from Rotorua, the village of Te Wairoa was destroyed when Mt. Tarawere erupted in 1886 and the village now exists as a living museum. The Museum of Te Wairoa will take you on an emotional journey back to the time of the Te Wairoa people and the destruction they faced.
